Brushed steel or white sockets/light switches...

It seems ludicrous to be worrying about something so insignificant, but I need to decide. We could do with saving some money, and the rooms are going to be pale, so I can't help thinking that we should just get white. However, I don't want them to look cheap. They are for the loft bedrooms and bathroom. So, question is, white or brushed steel??? Thanks!

White. Most people have white so I don't think they're automatically seen as cheap. Brushed steel might be a bit fashiony? Anyway it's for the loft so noone will see it anymore Grin

We've got white sockets and brushed SS switches.
The sockets blend into the wall but the switches look smart & are easy to pick out.

I have today been out and bought brushed stainless steel for my bedroom. Going to change the whole house as and when we decorate each room.

Steel

White.

Anonymous rather than cheap looking IMO.

We put in brushed steel when we first moved in, but when subsequent sockets were added the electrician couldn't find any to match and so we now have a few white plastic ones.

If you do go for brushed steel, buy a few spares to keep in the cupboard!

They do look good, but were expensive, and will probably date.

I like the brushed steel (be aware that some show fingerprints and some dont) but I notice in the kitchen and decor magazines the white ones are making a big comeback.

white. The others look so dated to me, show every mark, are expensive and are difficult to match.

it is a light switch, a very boring item that you don't want to stand out.

It's very subjective of course, but steel/chrome finishes don't do it for me. Brass can look good/appropriate in the right period house depending on the decor.

I personally like white - good quality plastic (e.g. MK Logic) or - vastly more expensive - look at MK Edge white metal.

Sil has the most amazing and probably very expensive glass switches and sockets, like this.

Brushed steel or white sockets/light switches...
