What colour walls?

i am shit at this. Really shit. I have probably spent about £500 on painting and repainting my living room dining room. It's a nightmare. i have no vision and I have no idea how to pull everything together.

HELP ME!

i have a dark brown tweed sofa, same pattern chair and then a hot pink flock upholstered wing back chair. I have pink, cream, grey cushions and throws. This all works. I have dark grey slate floors and a gorgeous washed out person rug in deep blues and a little grey. I have gold and blue picture frames in clusters and a couple of large prints. My style is defiantly eclectic and I don't mind, but I need the walls to work. It needs to be light and fresh as I have dark sofa and floors. I am also in need of a roman blind for my window but that is a whole other thread.

Please tell me what to do?

Have a look at this: Dulux colour visualizer

I feel your pain, I've been clicking various combinations for the last 2 days in desperation, after weeks of nagging motivating dh to do the painting I can't decide on colours!

Sounds like there's quite a lot going on, and two living spaces to tie together. Honestly, I'd probably go for white, or pale cream, neither of which will fight for attention, so you can be as eclectic as you like with the rest of it.

noddyholder · 16/07/2014 21:17

What colour is it now?

burnishedsilver · 16/07/2014 21:34

Have you tried dulux just walnut?

bakingaddict · 16/07/2014 21:38

With all the greys and blues which are on the cool spectrum I would try and inject some warmth into the colour palate. How about some ivory or similar and then maybe an accent colour of pale pink or rose for a couple of the walls which picks out one of the signature colours from your cushions to tie everything together.

White

White

Skimming stone by farrow and ball is a warm light stone colour. Goes great with hot pink and is on a brown tone to match your sofa. What colours have you tried and not liked?

whereisshe · 16/07/2014 22:01

This kind of colour perhaps?

nilbyname · 16/07/2014 22:09

I've had lots of taupe/greige/lilac/rosey colours. I had white white which is starting to look a bit tatty, and u just feel like we need a hint of colour.

I have just put on-
Crown spotlight- too lilac ish
Crown shuttered- cool light grey, but cold

Feeling like we need a warm white?

Timeless by dulux is a lovely white, less harsh than brilliant white, but soft and fresh.

Strong white by F and B is fab too.

If you go F and B you can have them mixed in little green or johnsons paints down at cane and Adam, the colour match is spot on, easier to slash on the walls I find!

bakingaddict · 16/07/2014 22:23

Your colour scheme isn't too far off my own except for the slate floor. We used to have white but it was a bit too glaring. We recently repainted in Dulux ivory cream or was it ivory lace? Anyway the warmth this colour brings to the living room while still being pale enough for contrast is heaps better than the standard white we had before

nonicknameseemsavailable · 17/07/2014 03:45

I would say cream/ivory.

ch1a · 17/07/2014 05:41

Dulux Egyptian cotton is my favourite colour ever. I would happily paint every room in my house this colour. Nice and warm, good contrast against white woodwork and ceiling and goes well with any other colours.

Madamecastafiore · 17/07/2014 06:03

Malm by F & B sort of neural colour but takes on tones from furnishings.

We had it at old house in bedroom with mink curtains and bed linen and it took on a mauvish hue whereas in friends sitting room it took on greenish hue from her sofas.

noddyholder · 17/07/2014 08:13

Malm is lovely it's fired earth though iirc I am about to move and am def going to use it it works lovely with navy and white too

nilbyname · 17/07/2014 10:01

I have gone with crown "seldom seen". which is a very pale grey.
I have ordered some metres of this to make a roman blind-

this

I am going to replace all my lamps shades to be white/grey and much simpler.

Reasonably happy with my choices...until my sofa packs in I can't really justify getting a new one! which I want. In grey.
