Party Wall Surveyor Recommendation London

Hi all,

Would anyone be able to recommend a good Party Wall Surveyor? We are looking for a reliable and trustworthy surveyor (who isn't just out there to prolong the process and charge as high a fee as possible!) for myself and my o/h's flat. I've found that recommendations are always the way to go in these situations so any help would be much appreciated. We're in SW London but I'm sure the surveyors don't need to be too local!

Also, we've never actually spoken to our neighbours (terrible I know!) and I thought it might be a good idea to introduce ourselves first before we serve notice formally. I was thinking on going round with a bottle of wine and maybe a written up but informal plan of our build, but my o/h thinks this is a bit naff. What are your thoughts?!

Thanks!

First of all, yes to the wine. I can see your DH's point but I do think you need to go round and meet them and I think the informal plan of the build would be the obvious thing to show them. You cannot really turn up empty handed! However, I think I would be tempted to arrange a meeting rather than just turning up - or perhaps invite them to yours.

Our neighbour did a loft conversion and we therefore had to appoint someone. We used someone who was recommended via a trusted client. He was really friendly and works part time now, but he was a party wall specialist. DH has details and I will post them later.

We are SW London and from memory he was Kent borders.

One point to make though, my understanding is that the other side (your neighbours) do the appointing and the surveyor normally works for both of you. You have to foot the bill for both parties.
