It seems to be more common in USA to have mirror cabinets, hence more choice of attractive light fixtures that project over the cabinets. I'm struggling to find them here that are not basic modern chrome stuff...nice google results are all mostly in USA.

What about yours?

What kind of cabinets? Bathroom?
Dh is re doing our new to us house here in UK, he's only done US houses before and it seems that style has followed him, so we have nice mirror cabinets in the bathrooms now Grin The lights are on the sides and stick out, not my style or favorite but it works. Our US lights were the straight line of big round bulbs ones in both bathrooms. Real energy guzzlers.
My nose is firmly pressed on the US window wanting to go to the fantastic super thrift stores, I used to buy loads of stuff for very little money and had a great wardrobe when we lived there. I need a trip to NJ to stay with a friend and go thrift shopping and to Target.
