Not really my problem but I'm furious on behalf of my cousin.
She and her husband have been treated despicably by the vendors, who have pushed their advantage in a seller's market a little too hard.
They have been:
*Fecked over with a gazump the week before exchange to the tune of 10% of the original price. My cousins could just about afford the extra so they agreed, although it means they will have to live with the flat "as is" because they can't now afford the repairs. My cousin reckons they pumped the builder who came round to quote for their refurb budget, the snakes. Lesson learned there.
*Forced to pay the vendors' service charge arrears (£3k) on top of the gazump price.
*Forced to cancel their holiday because the vendors wouldn't consider a mutually acceptable date to complete.
- Completed yesterday, only to discover the flat has been stripped - bar a revolting sofa too large to remove - and left utterly filthy.
My cousins are gritting their teeth but if it were me the vendors would be lucky not to find a horse's head in their bed.
