Neighbour asked for partywall consent for damp proof course...

... trouble is the more I read, the less I am convinced that there may actually be rising damp and also am worried that the drilling may damage the wall. I realise that any guarantees the company offers are probably worthless. Assuming there was rising damp - and I have seen no signs my side.. if only half the wall was drilled, would that just push any damp more to my side?
I have googled RICS and damp and am more and more confused. I think I'd like to ask the neighbour to get an independent surveyor (how to find?) and offer to pay half the cost of treatment for the party wall should it prove necessary.
Any thoughts?

Leaving aside the 'guarantee' if damage is done to the wall the neighbour will have to get that repaired. The party wall consent will protect you in that case. I see what you mean about the damp. Tbh I'm not sure I can see the value in putting a damp course in to a joint wall unless you do all the way through Confused Doesn't the neighbour have to pay a surveyor as part of the party wall consent?

They have to pay for a surveyor on your behalf. I think it would be worth it for peace of mind-about the damp proof course rather than damaging the wall. Doesn't sound right to me. Don't sign the consent-you go into dispute (not in a bad way), you choose the surveyor.

when you drill a wall for damp treatment, you find the thickness of the wall and go nearly all the wall thru so protecting it all, but if the wall is damp the plaster should come off and be re-done , have a look here :
