I love the idea of stripey carpet, and would like to hear from anyone who is REALLY pleased with their stair carpet, what did you get, how much did it cost, how is it wearing?!

Last time I bought this stuff was forever ago, and I am out of the loop, entirely. I need a system upgrade..

That is incredibly cheap.

I went to carpetright today and they quoted me about £900 total, for removing old carpet and underlay, fitting, and an 80/20 stripey carpet.

Go to an independent, not a chain. We were charged over £1000 for hall/stairs/landing by Allied Carpets 20 years ago!

Recently got a quote from local place on a trading estate for the same thing, but with Amtico type flooring in the hall (hall is small, about 3' by 12') & it was much less - can't remember exactly as we can't do it yet pending building work, but it was either £500-ish or £700-ish

I want stripes too Smile

Hmmm! I already found better underlay than carpetright offered, at half the price, on eBay!

Thanks for the tip..I'll find an indie shop and compare.

We put some Crucial Trading stripy carpet on stairs and landing a few years ago. Cant remember the cost, but it was pricey compared to other options. However, it is wearing really well and still looks fantastic. Lots of positive comments from visitors, and I am really pleased with it.

We had stripy carpet on the stairs in our old house. It was there when we bought it and still looked good the day we sold it. Doesn't show marks or dirt which is great for such a high traffic area.
