New ceiling

I would like to get an old ceiling re-done. It is a bit lumpy and also has spot lights in it that I'd like removed to have single central light instead. Any idea how much this might cost?

Usually a few hundred pounds per room, reducing if you have several done at a time. Skimming over sound artex in a modern house is very easy.

If it is actually sagging it may need to be overboarded or, worst case, the old plaster pulled down, which is unbelievably dirty.

Ask around for local recommendations.

You ought to take up carpets and remove furniture. Expect to redecorate the whole room after.

Thanks - was thinking of redecorating but will definitely wait until I've done the ceiling now
