Do I go for hardwood or softwood frames? The difference is about 2.5K

Or should I ask which hardwood or softwood they normally use?

I minded to go for hardwood, as I think that if am a bit slapdash on the maintenance side, then the hardwood would last.

We do have the money, but there are other things we'd also like to do in the house ie new kitchen, re plaster the hall etc.

I believe hardwood is better wearing and lasts longer.

Hardwood. If you wish you can stain it, or oil it on the inside, and see the beauty of the grain (also show off that you have superior windows)

Gloss oil paint is however more durable outside. Avoid varnish which is very troublesome.
