How long are Halifax taking at the moment and do you have to jump through hoops?

We are applying through a broker. Not bothering with Nationwide as they were being ridiculous about what we could afford. Apparently Halifax are willing to lend what we would like and their current turn around time is 25 days. I would like it to be sooner if it can be.

Nationwide kept saying they had all the documents they required, then coming back and saying they needed something else, it was really frustrating and annoying so I am hoping we aren't going to have to go through that again.

Any ideas how efficient they are at the moment?

We have just applied with Halifax through a broker, mortgage was towards the top end of their affordability criteria. Put offer in on house last Wednesday, completed paperwork with the broker for the mortgage in the afternoon, they did the survey on Thursday and we got mortgage offer today. So took less than four working days. Broker was amazed by the speed as were we!

Wow! Fingers crossed for something like that then! Grin

I have applied via a broker on 15th May and have jumped through so many hoops and am expecting my offer today with Halifax(survey was done on 16th June),apparently my application was chosen for random sampling by Halifax HQ hence its delayed

A couple in our chain who'd previously been refused a mortgage elsewhere, received their Halifax mortgage 22 days after we'd been told there was a problem with them getting the original mortgage, so think it's about three weeks.

I have had an offer yesterday so took 6+ weeks with Halifax
