How long from mortgage application?

Our mortgage advisor said the lender was typically taking one week to come back with an answer - that was on June 17th when we put in our application. I realise it's only a few days more than a week but I'm really worried they will say no. I'm itching to get on with things and the waiting is a killer

I was advised our application could take up to 12 weeks it took in reality about 6

We applied on a Weds, had a valuation as part of the survey carried out 8 days later, and then the next day had confirmation via email of a formal mortgage offer. In total 9 days. That was dealing direct with nationwide, no broker involved. We are existing customers.

Ours took 8weeks, dealing directly with Santander and we are existing customers.

Took far too long really, had to constantly chase them up.

We're in week 9...no valuation yet either and everyone I've spoken to says this is normal. Gah.

I went with Lloyds - had one appointment where they gathered info from me, I went back a week later, on a Friday, for their recommendations and completed all the paperwork - the valuer visited the property on the Monday and I had the offer on the Wednesday. I was completely amazed by the speed of the turnaround as I was expecting it to take weeks not 4 days!

We are applying through a broker, with Halifax. He has said their current turn around is 25 days. I am hoping for less though.

We applied previously with Nationwide and whilst we were told it would be weeks before we could even get the phone call, it wasn't and the whole thing would have been less than a month had we carried on.

CrapBag · 30/06/2014 19:55

Petrasmummy who is that with?

dottyaboutstripes · 30/06/2014 19:56

Seems completely random! I suppose I'm just stressing because this lender (West Brom) was typically only taking a matter of days. 9 weeks sounds just ridiculous!
Not sure I will ever move again. Too stressful!
