the bathroom is rather fabulous. It's actually a lovely house in a nice location that need modernising, but interesting choices...

and the dining room ceiling is a treat

from the outside, just beautiful. on the inside, Shock Confused

MrsFlorrick · 30/06/2014 09:41

Wow. Shock The price is astronomical!!!

Hideous inside. Ugh. Even if it was £300k I don't think I would want to buy it!

irregularegular · 30/06/2014 09:55

What an incredible way to treat a beautiful house. It would be really easy to turn into something gorgeous though. It's mostly just carpets and furniture.

wowfudge · 30/06/2014 13:03

Someone definitely likes green carpet.....maybe they were convinced it brought the outside in?

Apart from the kitchen needing updating and the dated huge and hideous bathroom it doesn't look as though there much beyond the cosmetic to be done.

Floggingmolly · 30/06/2014 13:05

The turrets look so odd; like the whole thing is about to blast off into space at any moment.

MadameDefarge · 30/06/2014 13:16

Its a Kentish Oast house. Criminal that they were allowed to mess around with the interior like that, but I guess the outside is listed, hence not being touched.

FliptheThread · 07/07/2014 09:17

I was going to limit myself to saying how clever they were to find a pleated cushion large enough to cover the entire dining room ceiling but then I saw the bathroom.

scarletforya · 07/07/2014 09:23

What are the white things on top of the turrets?

awsomer · 07/07/2014 12:24

OMG the carpets... I can't stop laughing!!....

laline1 · 07/07/2014 12:42

It's a cowl - oast houses were kilns used for drying hops, and this is a sort of air vent fixed on to the top of the kiln tower. They are meant to turn with the wind.

HenI5 · 07/07/2014 13:03

Converted Oast Houses are everywhere in Kent, not too sure why putting the kitchen in the roundel is such a popular idea, although I suppose how much other space there is.

This is how they worked

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 07/07/2014 13:09

The current owners certainly love their green carpets don't they?

Seriously though, I think it could be a beautiful house. The outside is fabulous - just rip up the carpets & pop in new kitchen and I could be happy there Grin.

Shame I don't have £3m. Or live anywhere near Kent.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 07/07/2014 13:11

Actually, I'd also have to evict the swans from the lounge & get rid of the hanging shrubbery (hops I assume?).

vickibee · 07/07/2014 13:14

If you have 3 mil to spend on a property I am sure you can affors to change the decor and carpets, the house itself is lovely but very high maintenance. I couldn't cope with the maintenance and cleaning....

IrianofWay · 07/07/2014 16:04

Beautiful house! Horrendous decor. It's criminal!

canutesauntie · 07/07/2014 16:55

With 19 acres, those stables and the manège hopefully you wouldn't have to spend much time with the shag pile carpet. Its very 80s decor, maybe they did it once ( expensively) and didn't feel the need to update.
