Restoring Stained Glass Windows

After 8 months of doubt, we've finally just bought a beautiful edwardian semi detached house. Now that the initial euphoria of moving is is wearing off, it's time to think about the renovations! First on my list.... windows. The house has beautiful stained glass windows. Two big bays in the front, several in the door and three going up the stairs. I LOVE them, but they are in bad condition and we need to do something.

Many of the neighbours have had theirs restored and encapsulated. Is there anyone on here that has done this? Was it really expensive and was it worth it? Or are there other options that people have tried?

I'm having a window man come look on Monday and would like to at least appear informed!

TIA :-)

I have not had it done but I have seen stained glass window restorers working at a craft show. I would try and google this type of work and see what information you can glean from the web sites. Usually craft people who do this work will be happy to explain everything to you. Sounds like a wonderful project to me!

Ask your neighbours who they used? Word of mouth is good!
