Please help me find lighting for my loft conversion (alternatives to spots)

I am currently having our loft converted to make two bedrooms (only 3*3.5 each). The ceiling height will be about 2m 15, so again, not huge.

Now, one of the things that I have read in many places is that you want as much insulation as possible, and obviously where you put ceiling spots (I think they are called?) you loose almost all of the insulation.

So, my question is, has anyone got any lighting ideas that aren't spots? Any ideas would be welcome!

You cant have insulation on top of lights that are recessed into the ceiling because of the fire risk.

How about an ordinary ceiling rose? Or wall lights? Freestanding floor light?

why not just use wall lights or floor lamps?
