I have some questions about laying engineered wood flooring!

Thanks in advance. This board has been amazingly helpful so far and I really appreciate it!

We are planning to lay engineered wood over the existing pine floorboards. We don't want beading. Is undercutting the skirting better or replacing it?

We are planning to supply all the materials. (Is this daft?) Is there a specific term for the additional bits we need- room dividers, the bits tht go round fireplaces or top of stairs etc. will the builder tell us how many we need?

What happens with inbuilt wardrobes?? Do they take the bottom of the wardrobe off to run the floor through?

I'm sure I'll have more... Builders are coming to quote tomorrow but thought it may be better to be prepared.

Get the builders to get the materials! They are experienced in this - it appears you are not. Beading is horrible and traps dirt. Don't ruin expensive flooring with a cheap finish. It spoils the look of the floor to have beading.

Our engineered flooring was put down over floor boards and concrete screed and the skirting boards were replaced. Trying to fit new flooring under existing skirting is difficult and it is probably cheaper to replace. We have more of an oak upstand. I think you might have problems with the wardrobes. If you can remove the bottom of them, do so. We had carpets due to this problem. Our flooring butts up to the fireplace so no beading. You sound like you need thresholds where floors join each other. I would expect the builders to advise on this or the floor supplier.
