I'e bquoted 600 to paint a room (walls & ceiling) the size of a single garage (brand new bare plaster so will need sealing and then a couple of coats of white paint). About right or rip off??

It seems steep- we've had 3rooms done, inc from bare plaster, ceiling, woodwork (inc sash windows) for £1150.

Mum and Dad were charged £12PH He wall papered one wall, plastered walls etc He did an outsanding job too.

The guy I have does all prep, emulsions wall and ceiling and does woodwork for £250. That includes paint and takes 2 days.

Yea, seems steep.
We quote around £300 plus vat

How long did they expect it to take? My decorator charges £100 per day, had quotes for less too. I'm guessing he's not going to take over a week to do the job...

I'm feeling a bitShock as I have had 3 quotes to paint whole house (3 double beds & 2 singles plus 2 receptions, kitchen wc & 2 bathrooms, & 5x5m annex including skimming 4 bedroom ceilings) plain white - this includes skirtings, doors & frames but no windows & my quotes range from £9.5k to £10.5k!! They all reckon on 2-3 weeks. I know it's London but seems steep compared to what others are saying!

Yes Pinkfizz that does sound a lot! You need to get a northerner to come down for a holiday and do it!

100 per day is right. This is 2-3 days MAX. Pm me if you would like a decorator Wink
