Style of Electric Gate

Hi, I wonder if I can ask a style question

We are just about to buy an old farmhouse and we want to put in electric gates. My husband is more keen on the wrought iron ones whereas I prefer wood.

What style would most suit a 16th century farmhouse please? I've tried looking at pictures etc but I need your help.

Around here it is a running joke with the locals (i.e.. people that have lived here more than five years…), that the first thing refugees from London do is to put up a massive pair of electric gates to keep the locals out

No offence but I thought I should mention it. Personally, I prefer wrought iron as it is does give the impression of being more "open" to the outside world. Having said that, wood is probably more in keeping.

It's more due to laziness as at the moment when we go to visit the house we have to get out and open the gates and then close them behind us!!! I think I'll have a drive around and see what other "outsiders" have got :)
