Planting Garden Beds & SW London Garden Centres

Hi

We are effectively gardening/landscaping novices and need to plant up about 7 sqm of raised garden beds in our back courtyard garden.

We don't want to spend a fortune on plants, only to choose the wrong thing. Our garden doesn't get a massive amount of light, which adds to our concerns.

Does anyone know if local garden centres provide this advice? If so, any recomendations in SW London or Great SW London?

Thanks in advance

B&Q/Homebase will definitely be able to offer you advice on what plants to put in. Just google them to find their locations.

If you want a really big selection of plants, have a look at crocus.co.uk - you can search by plants for whatever type of garden you have: I've just had a look and they have 120 different plants for shady gardens. I've bought some really lovely plants from there, and of course getting them delivered means the back of your car isn't filled with earth/ water/ bugs...(maybe that's just me)! If you want advice, you can email them - they've been really helpful to me when I've had some pretty random/tricky spaces to fill.

SW London garden centres I know of:

Neal's Nurseries opposite Wandsworth Prison
Battersea Flower Station off York Road

I've been to Neal's, nice place, but never asked their advice. Never been to Battersea Flower Station but seen recommendations for their services.

The garden centre is West Dulwich (Borders SW London) is terrific. It's been bored best in London by the Times or some paper. It's called Alleyn Park
