Art collage walls. Do they look contrived?

I have a big empty wall in my lounge. I love the look of a bunch of different pictures on the same theme or same colour scheme but they always look like they took a lifetime of strolling around little shops to find them and I want to get them all in one go online but I'm worried it will look contrived.
I've created some pinterest boards but I'm really unsure. How do you make them look good and not cheesy or just weird?

Depends how much money and time you have.

I really like your japanese pin board, btw.

Do you have the money to buy them all at once? go for it. Remember you may need to spend money on frames for some.

You can always buy a couple of pieces you really love then get some cheaper ones as filler until you replace them bit by bit with darling little finds from fleamarkets in Paris etc.

I think the key to make sure they don't look cheap is to get nice frames for them. I also think your Japanese board is lovely.

I'm a big fan of Etsy, just typed in Japanese prints and there are some stunning prints for around the £6/£7 mark although watch out for postage charges if coming from Japan.

Will attach a photo of a good way of deciding where you want each frame to go before getting the hammer out.
