Which trade to fit kitchen extractor hood?

I moved in in September, to a house with a recently refurb-ed kitchen.

They installed a lovely oven and hob, and a double socket above for the lovely new extractor fan, which remains in the cupboard under the stairs where they left it. There's also a 4 inch hole in the external wall, but on the inside it's tiled over.

Over 8 months later, (and 8 months of cooking grease on the tiles!) I'm finally admitting that it's not something DP and I are brave enough to DIY. It's heavy and huge, there's tiles to remove, and maybe electric to wire in...

Anyone had this done, separately to a new kitchen being fitted? Who do I need - maybe electrician/builder/kitchen fitter? How long might it take (hopefully quicker than my 8 months!), and what sort of money am I looking at?

I'd try and find out who fitted the kitchen before you moved in, and ring them. That's a job for a kitchen fitter IMO. Why on earth did they not just install it with the rest of the kitchen?

Thanks justabigdisco Grin I think the chappy was a bit of a diy-er and fitted the rest himself (except the gas to the hob) - so maybe he had the same reluctance that I do!

Do you think any kitchen fitter will come for just this?

I had a kitchen fitter come out for a similar job. Well, the hood was already fitted, but I got him to convert it from a recirculating to a proper extracting one - by drilling a hole in my very thick stone wall.

Oh and I found him on ratedpeople
