Novice here about to dive into this but I thought I'd ask for any recommendations and dos or donts re siting and use. I'm planning on siting it under the stairs close to the mains inlet. is that a good idea?

OK a last bump - anyone have one? Super boring but would especially like to know what type ie twin or single tub, electric or not, if you are hapoy with yours.

I have one, it is an old Permutit model, which I bought reconditioned when my previous one needed repair.

It has a water meter to decide when to regenerate. I bought the largest one I could, so that it goes a long time before the salt runs out. It runs off electricity which drives the clock and the regen timer. It has one large salt tub and one large resin cylinder.

I got it from an ebay trader in Ingatestone who I was very happy with.

Go for the larger pipe and valve kit which will give better flow.

Thank you PigletJohn! Exactly the info I wanted & I was wondering about reconditioned too.
