Is that a bad idea? My motive would be to save money, but is doing a good job difficult/complicated/just as expensive as letting the builder do it?

Ripping a kitchen out is easy, it's just unscrewing things and brute force! Did it myself to ours last week, particularly enjoyed smashing the cabinets to bits. But we paid a builder / joiner to put a new one in.

Agree, the ripping out is the easy bit...

Who's pitting the new kitchen in? No ripping put a kitchen is not difficult.

Watching with interest.

we've done it, it's easy peasey and very fun, i always think the best bit of diy is the bashing bits up and making mess, not the painstaking putting it all back together nicely bit!

the only thing to think about is disposal, do you have a tip within easy driving distance or hiring a skip?
