Agent hoped it would happen yesterday or possibly today, but we have set a deadline of 11am tomorrow. Most of us in chain were ready to complete last month, but one party have had problems getting a mortgage to the extent we thought new buyers would have to be found at the start of the week. Next thing we know mortgage offer is in, but someone's mortgage offer runs out in 12 days.

We need to impose a deadline of 11am tomorrow as we're going away - something planned way before we ever thought about moving, involving lots of others with a group here from abroad, so not willing to cancel. We made it clear all the way along we couldn't move around now, so think it's fair to insist we exchange by this time so we have an hour to deal with basic paperwork.

Luckily solicitor has cleared deposit, all final forms signed and I have more than enough money ready to send to the final balance payable. I've totally gutted the house over the last couple of months so we are only taking things we want, everything is already down from the loft and boxed. I've got letters ready to print out, redirection form filled in, lists everywhere etc.

Wish us luck!!

Good luck - but you can exchange in your absence and agree for a completion date for when you return?

Mortgage agreements come into play at exchange, don't they? So the people on mortgage deadlines will be OK as long as they exchange within date.

Yes, they can exchange when we're away, but it's a condition of our mortgage that we provide details of our buildings insurance before our solicitor can apply for the mortgage funds (as we're not taking out lender's own). So straight after exchange we need to be able to organize insurance on new place, let solicitor know, finally confirm to removers and let main utilities know. We've only allowed an hour for this, trying to give as much time to others for what they need to be ready.

Removers have been great, have let me have a provisional booking and have just dropped off packing boxes, even though we haven't paid or confirmed. Glad I've got a provisional booking, they have a fleet of 30 vans and are already fully booked for two days that week.
