New front door - wood or aluminium?

Looking for advice about what to have our new front door and garage made of and hearing conflicting views.

Is there a benefit from having a particular one?

I don't have a garage so I can't comment but I would personally hate a front door from PVC/Aluminum. It would put me off even viewing a house as they are so costly to replace.

Wood, of course.

What size and age is the house?

An open porch or canopy will be helpful.

Piglet John it's a 1970s townhouse. I have no idea about doors.

I am in the same situation,
I have been advised that as my front door is very exposed to the elements, gets south facing sun, and fierce winds, that a wood door will warp. My neighbour tried 3, and now has a composite. Not particularly keen though, anyone got any ideas?

Why would you hate it? We have a composite door and it is great and doesn't look like one until you get right up to it.

Agree, prefer my composite door to the old wooden draughty thing that was on there before! We are end of terrace so our door opening faces the neighbours so it's also given us some privacy.

Thank you composite door owners for your feedback. v helpful, has anyone had a steel door, a builder recommended that too, but sounds expensive and a bit jail like!
