House of bugs

DP and I decided long ago this house was cursed....

Basically during very wet weather I find slugs in my house, downstairs on the laminate. Normally the odd one, it's two tonight... So far. The most I've had in one night is four.

We also have silverfish upstairs. I thought they'd gone but recently I've spotted a few.

Plus it seems to be a spider/moth/any other random thing Mecca. Any ideas? Do we have to seal something up? We have had damp issues before. It's a council house and to be honest we don't have a clue what we're doing!

Regarding slugs, you have my sympathies - we had this in two houses. It's much more common that you would think. My main suggestions are:
Check around outside the house. If you have an airbrick which is overgrown and/or damp, clear away around it, and chuck some slug pellets down around it (if in a safe location for you to do so).
We also identified roughly where they were coming from and put down newspaper on the floor at night, with slug pellets on. Then in the night we would come down and clear up any slugs that we had caught. After a while, this seemed to resolve the problem. BUT be very careful not to leave any slug pellets out when children are around (clear it all up before morning).
The other thing I did sometimes was to leave the light on downstairs at night. Apparently they don't like it, so tend not to come out if it is light.

In our previous house with slugs in, we found they were hiding behind the kickboards in the kitchen, which was YUCK, but easy to get rid.
Can't help with the other mini-beasts, I'm afraid.
