Hi All,

Looking for some advice, we were gazumped on a property and have been looking for the last 4months for another property and nothing has quite hit the mark. However, on Friday last week a new property came on the market and we rang the agent on Friday and Saturday to book a viewing and they told us they couldn't get through to the owners. Called again this morning was put on hold for about 5mins then a guy comes on the phone and says the property sold on Saturday for full asking price. Apparently someone knocked on the door they did a viewing and the property is now Sold STC. Has this happened to anyone else? Could the EA be lying?

We would still like to view the property, should we knock the owners door and ask them directly?

Bloody hell Damn. That's more than our whole house sold for.
In my street houses sell within about 2 weeks. Our house went on the market on the Tuesday, we viewed on the Saturday and offered on the Sunday.

We just sold our house quickly too. In less than 2 hours we had 2 offers over the asking price and the next day they got into a bidding war! I wouldn't gazump but I agree that things do go wrong. our first buyer got made redundant and had to pull out, so you never know

Ours sold really quickly too. Had an open day planned but didn't get to it as agent had someone who'd missed out on a property the week before, saw ours, paid over the asking to get us to cancel the open day. We were really keen on a couple of houses so we were happy to do so. Now cant get a house for ourselves. Had 2 asking price offers turned down. Much harder being a buyer than vendor where we are.
