water leaking from ceiling

Hi

I live in a house.

I had a bath, but forgot to switch the tap off. I then went down stairs, but after around 5 mins, I realised that I left the tap on.

I quickly ran upstairs, there was water everywhere, but not much of it. I quickly mopped it up, dried the floor. Then quickly ran downstairs to see if there was any leaks. To my surprise there wasn't any leaks.

Why is this so?

How long does it take for water to leak through a ceiling.

It depends on what's on the floor. If it's lino, then it's a sealed floor so shouldn't come through. There's a layer of floorboards, then plasterboard underneath which is plastered (it's the ceiling). It doesn't take long for it to come through (first hand experience).

Thanks for replying lady, but other times, when there is water on the floor, about an hour, it does go through the lino...

It depends. If it got underneath via the side or a hole in the lino it will go through, if it didn't it won't as it was contained, IYKWIM.
