Bifold doors at front of house... crazy?

Long time reader first time poster here.
We've just bought a small semi-detached sixties house (image added below) with a large south-facing front garden but tiny tiny north-facing back garden. We're in the process of converting the integral garage into an open plan kitchen/diner and thinking about adding bi-fold doors where the current garage door is and creating a little patio area in the front garden which we could landscape to create a bit of privacy (we're in a close anyway so fairly quiet). A few people I've mentioned this to have raised their eyebrows at the mention of bi-fold doors at the front of the house... are we mad to consider this? Seems like the only way to get the most of the space and lovely sunshine at the front!

I think it sounds like a great idea. Always think a front garden can be put to better use rather than just ornamental. Bi-fold doors could look smart at the front. Curbside appeal etc. You'd need to think about privacy blinds or something similar so that you can make a cuppa in your PJs without the whole close seeing.

Thanks lostinindia, good tip about the privacy blinds!

Our friends are building a breakfast room which faces to the front and has bi-fold doors - think it will be lovely. We have also just ordered bi-fold doors ourselves and integral blinds - very nice but couldn't believe the price of the blinds.

I would do it. With a big fence or hedge at the street end of your front garden.

Can't remember price for integral blinds for bifolds, but for the matching door and windows if was over £700 pounds....
