Obscure glass for windows on front of house required by planning - what are the options?

As our the addition of a new 1st floor will overlook neighbours back garden we have been asked to put obscure glass in any dormers we add (this will be front elevation of our house) is there a type of glass which would look OK on the front of a house - dont want any frosted patterned bathroom stuff was thinking of some sort of two glass which we could reverse - so we can see out but they could see in! -- just because it might look like normal glass

these windows would just be into a first floor hallway

How about if it were mirror glass? I have mirror glass film on one of my windows, means I can see out, but from outside you just see a reflection. You could have the opposite of that, or so both sides see mirrored reflections?

yes that sounds like a great option....as we actually look onto a high hedge (neighbours claim this could die!! - hence the claim that we might be able to invsde their privacy) and this hedge would be reflected externally - which would be great...

I wonder if some recycled Edwardian stained glass would do the job?

Thanks Pen - thats a lovely idea - I would need to check if that passed PP stipulation for non opening window / obscure glass

Anything that allows you to see out will not be allowed-the planning is so you can't overlook your neighbours. I would go for plain frosting.

you can get various depths of obscurity. You will doubtless be having new sealed units made, so ask the supplier to show you samples.

There are some that look like ripples on a pond which will prevent you spying on your neighbours nude sunbathing, but you will still be able to make out sky and shapes of trees.
