Open houses for selling

Hi
We are selling our house and have had three agents out to value it, one I've discounted as they aren't particularly local or positive about the local market. The other two have very similar valuations and fees and the difference seems to be the size of the agents one is very big nationally (connells) and the other big locally iysim? Connells advocate open houses and the other doesn't. I know it will take a couple of weeks to sort out an open house whereas the other agent can get people straight in to view but probably not as many as an open house does.
What are people's thoughts on open houses and which would you recommend? I've never sold a house before so would welcome opinions!

We had an open house and it sold that day! I liked it as no cleaning every day and created competition. We allowed 2 weeks for bookings and had 10 first bloke bought it

Wow that's impressive and that's what the agent was saying. We have tenants with a small cld so it would suit them, I think. A, conscious that in two weeks the World Cup starts so that may impact even though the fixtures are in the evening

I've been to view at a couple of open houses it does seems a good no hassle way to sell the house - providing you get an offer that day. It does create a buzz when there's other people viewing at the same time as you.

It also gives back up if it falls through We have 4 people who would offer if our guy doesn't complete so a bit of insurance.

Thank you, hadn't thought of it that way. I guess it helps to get people in and look around.

We had an open house on the Saturday, offer on Monday, fell through the following weekend and another full asking price offer within 3 days, all from people who came to the open house. Not having to keep cleaning was great and we just went out for the day and left them to it. I'd definitely do it again!

I think it works in a strong fast market.

Open house id the way to go I think, if I were selling this is what I would choose. DH and I have been to a few over the last 6 months and they always whip up some healthy competition.
