Howdens kitchen error!

I'm having a Howdens kitchen fitted, and spent a LONG time sorting out the layout and deciding on the design. On my final appointment with Howdens, the designer went through a few final details and offered me cabinets that were white inside or wood effect, and I choose wood effect. My builder has started fitting it, and I've only just noticed that the cabinets now fitted are white inside. I know this might seem like a small detail, but having spent so much on it, I'm really annoyed that they've got this wrong. I'm guessing the designer forgot to change the cabinet type after our last meeting. I'm guessing that it's too late to change them now, but any ideas?? What can I do? Any chance of a partial refund from Howdens? Or am I making a fuss over a minor detail?

I can't answer your specific query but our builder recently selected guttering and air bricks in colours I would not have chosen. It felt like a big deal at the time but now a week or two later I think I was making s mountain out of a mole hill. I can now see that he actually made a reasonable choice - perhaps this may be the same for you...?

Is there a cost difference? I think I would go back to them if there was. Can you see the insides when the doors are closed, i.e. through glass doors?

did you sign off on paperwork that had the details shown ? check through what paperwork you have - and hopefully they will rectify this for you ! good luck !

Thanks for your replies. I didn't ever sign anything. I've contacted the designer at Howdens who said "I thought you chose white". It seems after I chose the wood effect she forgot to change this on her records. Having looked back over the invoice, each item has a complicated code made of numbers and letters. I can see now that the wh probably stands for white, but I didn't think to check at the time. Luckily I haven't got any glass fronted cabinets, so the white will be hidden most of the time. Still annoyed about it though!!

We have a Howdens kitchen, and whilst we love it, they got loads of things wrong with the order - bits missing, bits wrong, wrong sink etc

I would ask for some of the cost to be refunded if I were you.

We did this and asked them to supply our oak upstands (they were an afterthought) free of charge, which they did.

Exactly the same happened to me!
