I've searched for months, I think I'm happy but would love a vote of confidence.
Opinions?

It's gorgeous. I'm looking at worktops at the moment and it's on my shortlist. I'm also looking at Silestone lagoon and kashmir white granite. What color are your units and flooring?

Thank you burnished, it's such a hard decision isn't it? I really love the look of real Carrera, but I'm not the most careful of cooks.
I'm thinking a very pale blue/grey for the units with maybe the island a deeper shade. Hoping for large slabs of limestone on the floor.
How about you?

Very nice

rhubarb I don't suppose you researched any costs for real Carrera marble did you? I was literally just googling before I saw your post - had in fact just been on the very site that you have linked to. Can't seem to find any rough prices online though.
And yes your choice will look gorgeous with grey units.

rhubarbcrumbleplease · 29/05/2014 20:11

Real Carrera is actually much cheaper, I can't remember exact figures but I think about 30%.
It seems that the actual price varies a great deal; the depth, size of the slab, whether you have joins, what type of edges & how many cut outs.
Sadly I haven't found a bargain place local to me.

ah ok - I know it's not the most practical thing - thanks for replying and sorry for thread hijack.

I'm thinking of either a chalkey white or light grey for the main units and a dark charcoal grey for the island. The cararra is fabulous on the greys but not so great on the white option which is why I'm considering the Kashmir white marble. The carerra will be perfect with what you have in mind. The real marble isn't worth it. Mil has it and its destroyed. Even hand soap stains it.

I spent ages today looking at loor tiles. I'm hoping to find a limestone look in a porcelain tile but haven't found anything I like yet.

Not at all, it is lovely. Your pastry will be amazing Grin

burnished have you looked at Mandarin Stone? I went to a showroom and was stunned by all the choices.

Thanks rubarb. I've had a look on their website. They have lovely tiles at good prices but I'm in Ireland so there's none near.

John Lewis recently told me that Kashmir White is no longer available.

burnishedsilver · 30/05/2014 13:33

Thanks Marmite. I read that there was a shortage of supply but the place Im dealing with still seem to have it. Of course, at the rate I'm going it will probably be gone by the time I make up my mind.
