Has anyone any experience of buying a steel framed house? And concerns about re-sale?

We are in the process of buying a steel framed house (BISF). I grew up in one of these and have relatives still in there. We never had any problems with it.

Our survey came back today and it said that he thinks there could be a problem if we wanted to sell in the future because of potential corrosion (or something to that effect). Is this something he is saying because it is a possibility that this could happen?

Does anyone have any experiences of these houses and any problems they have had? There are a lot of this type of house where I live and they are a really good size and sell quickly but that it because they are always cheaper than standard construction, which is what the surveyor told me.

I was told not to touch one with a barge pole. Some lenders don't provide mortgages for them, which should be warning enough. They can corrode from the bottom up and that is expensive to correct or renders your house worthless.
They don't build them anymore...

But having said that, people do live in them and take the risk, so could you! Perhaps worth getting a second opinion from another surveyor?
