Has anyone done a leaflet drop to try & find a house to buy?

I'm curious. I've heard of it being done but don't know of anyone who's actually done this.
If you did - how did you word it? And what was the outcome? I'm feeling a little desperate so trying to decide if I have the nerve!

Do it! It works. We did it and got 4 replies. We followed two of them up and almost bought one of them but it fell through as they couldn't secure the house they were after. We were going to follow the other 2 up when the house we're now buying came on the market.

Just print a short note and put it through some doors, what have you got to lose?

My neighbours bought their house after leafleting our road. Definitely worth a try.

Where are you looking? Most people use Estate Agents make sure you don't get time wasters who have no intention of selling but want to know: what it might be worth?

We did. No-one wanted to sell, but we later moved into the road and then said hello to neighbours who remembered us. We get a letter or note once a year, and don't mind.

I had a friend who sold her house after receiving a note. She hadn't even planned to move, but the note planted the idea and they signed a week or two later!!

Our solicitor has offered to get their estate agency to do this on the streets we're interested in (we're in Scotland) and I'm definitely going to take him up on the offer. We live in a smallish village and we're desperate to stay here, but with a slightly bigger home
