Bedford - actually quite nice....

I did a lot of research for my move to Bedford from SW London on here. I was surprised by a real hostility to Bedford on Mumsnet and generally online.

Once we moved in I was relieved the picture was nowhere near as bleak as portrayed and actually quite the opposite.

Here is a new website which paints a brighter picture for anyone else making the same move or who lives in Bedford already. The blog part goes live in June...

Hi Spotty, thank you for the link to the website it looks very interesting and I'm sure it will grow with a bit of time.
I think I've mentioned before that I also moved from London, but I'm in a village east of Bedford.
I went to Bedford park today for the first time to walk the dog and I must say I was pleasantly surprised, the cafe was very nice with good coffee and cake.
Some of the houses near the park are amazing and huge.
Do you know if the pub on the edge of the park ( I think it's the Park Inn?) is any good for food as we are always looking for places to eat especially if we can combine it with a dog walk.
I'm slowly getting used to being here although it hasn't come easy and I miss London, but I'm determined to find interesting things to do in the area.
I will certainly keep looking at your website.

Yes The Park Pub is great, it is having a bit of a makeover right now. The D'Parys and The Embankment are also very nice. The latter is definitely dog friendly too as they have water bowls out.

Glad you liked the Park and the Pavilion, that is a new addition and the interior is about to be refurbed.
