It's it madness to extend a kitchen wall if the units and oven / hob have only recently been installed?

I've recently moved to a house with a tiny kitchen - ridiculously tiny, it's almost possible to stand in the centre and touch all the walls. It didn't have all the appliances I'd like, and there's no room for them. There's no room for a bin. The previous owners recently (

Friends and PIL have both extended and refitted the original kitchen, with great success both times.
The more recent the kitchen, the easier it will be to match units.
