slow vendors - hand-holding please

just posting here for a bit of hand-holding really (unless anyone has any useful suggestions).
We've sold our place, and are temporarily living with our son. We had our (asking price) offer accepting mid-March on the house of our dreams.
Since then - nothing much. We can only deal through the EA. There are documents that our solicitor requested at the end of March, that still haven't been supplied. Instead, there is a slow drip-feed of documents.
A similar house across the road has sold for £100k more than our offer.
I would walk away if I didn't love the house. Instead we are ringing the solicitor and EA every day.
I just can't understand why the vendor is behaving this way. Has anyone else had a purchaser/vendor that is really slow.

Yes, one purchasing from me was very slow, one selling to me was very slow. Generally (not every step, but most) it comes down to the conveyancers. Most are rubbish. Many is the time I've wanted to get my conveyancer, theirs and the EA on a conference call and get them to break down the remaining steps, put owners against them and due dates. They need such a kick at times.

well maybe the vendor has seen a similar house selling for 100K and is having doubts?? I would.

issue an ultimatum and tell them to stop messing you about. It is insulting to be treated as 'little people that don't matter'.

Do you know what their buying situation is? Our vendors lost the one they were buying so it's all on halt for a bit.

What an awful situation to be ib. I do feel for you. the more I hear about the English system the worse it seems.
