Wooden Carports

Considering getting one of these to protect our cars from bird droppings and tree/leaf sap.
Also thought it would provide an element of privacy as we have just taken down some old Leylandii trees and the garden seems rather exposed now.

We already have a detached double garage in the garden but that houses DH's project (don't ask).

The ones we are considering are double bay, either made of oak or redwood (cheaper) and have proper slate roofs. We would probably get one with open sides as it is going in an area next to a new fence. Maybe have room at the side for a wood store.

Does anyone have one of these? Do you find them useful or would you rather have the extra garden space? Does anyone think they are naff or a bit pretentious? would it put you off buying a house?

Just trying to canvas opinion before DH gets totally carried away.

car ports are excellent for storage, drying washing on iffy days and many other things. I suppose you could even put a car in them at a pinch... :-)

not naff at all.
