Has anyone bought land funded not against current property?

Hi!

We've found some land we'd like to purchase for future building but only want the land for now. We have no equity in current property. Purchase price would be circa £60000.

The finances should work with the spreadsheets DH has put together.

Are there many land only arrears mortgages about? We can't seem to find them! We'd have approx 10% deposit.

Ecology building society maybe. Try ringing the mortgage brokers at The Build Centre in Swindon. Looking at adverts in Self Build Magazine? Plotsearch website?

Thanks sunny shores. We've spoken to buildstore but they said they'd have to have plans ( land is currently marketed as two plots with a dwelling each but we'd like to buy both and out one dwelling on them) and they'd do a mortgage on the total build. We'd like to build the land now with a view to building in 3-4 years time.
