Waiting to exchange...when do I book removals?

Hi,

Was hoping to exchange earlier this week but there's a problem in the chain so don't know when that will happen now. Completion date at the moment is supposed to be May 23, so about 10 days away.

When should I book removals? I don't want to book anything before exchange as I don't want to lose money.

I am only moving from a rented studio and have no major furniture items to move.

Has anyone tried a service specialising in last-minute removals?

book it now with a company that will let you change the date and cancel if it doesn't go through. They are all well used to this.

We are supposed to be completing 6th June. Removals already booked even though we haven't exchanged contracts. The company are a local firm who came highly recommended.

We pencilled in a local firm. But ours was two weeks before Xmas...so not their busiest time but I would defo be booking someone now. Watch out for deposits though. If you have to change the date

I used a couple who did it this way but unless we are in the same areas not much help. I suggest getting quotes from reallymoving.com.

if you can avoid bank holiday and Fridays it will be cheaper.

Phone your removal company and ask if they will take a provisional booking, about ham will in our area. If you can't get one that will take a provisional booking and you're nervous, ask you solicitor to phone you when everyone is ready to exchange so you can at least phone the company and make sure one is available for your date.
