Can't even get a house when offering the asking price!

Pointless post. I'm just frustrated.

Houses where we want are going fast. Silly fast.

House on for 250k. We offer 250k, we aren't in a chain and will wait the 4-5 months they want as they are buying a new build.

And the response is they've had lots of good offers so is going to best and final tomorrow. I know you should bid what the house is worth to you etc, we just can't go over the 250k. Plus the stamp duty jump makes it too tight financially for us.

I can totally see it from their point of view but oooooo it's frustrating :-(

I've seen this many times on here recently Sad
Maybe you need to start looking at houses in the next price bracket down and then bidding over the asking price?

I'm in the next bracket down I suppose , I'm in a £115 2 bedroom Victorian terrace, in an ok area but not the best school etc, don't socialise here as the pubs etc aren't very inviting.

The next step all seem to have jumped to 250k. There's nothing really worth moving for in the 180k bracket. I'm trying to get closer to better schools and the care home my dads in.

Just soooooo frustrating. I'm going to stick with our offer and just see what happens.

We are in this situation . We live only 100 yards from the house we want , we only want that house , our mortgage is transferable and we will need to add to mortgage to do the renovation but not to buy but we do need to sell our house. It's only just gone on the market though but everyone says it should sell but who knows .So frustrated this house has an annex which would be perfect for ds2 in time and is in our village so convenient.

It's annoying isn't it. We lost out on the sealed bids, wish I knew how much by though.

We had this- took us 3 years in the end... but the one we ended up in is perfect for us- don't give up hope! Smile

Fram · 14/05/2014 19:35

One of ours (at £250k) went for 10% over asking price! Shock

This isn't Scotland or anything...

Teaandtoast1 · 14/05/2014 20:08

fram this one was on at 250k aswell. It kills me to think we may have to go over that as the stamp duty infuriates me, plus we can't afford iit even if we wanted to.

Stupid sealed bids :-(
