After applying, how long does it take mortgage funds to come through?

How many days does it take between solicitor applying for mortgage funds and him receiving them?

There is pressure in the chain to complete quickly but one lot aren't ready yet. From our point of view, we've said we want to know 12 days in advance of any intended completion date, as we need to sort out one thing before mortgage funds are applied for (I'm sure can be done 24/48 hours as easily done by a phone call and then email) and then I've mentally allowed 10 days for the solicitor to have cleared funds. Does this sound right?

Our formal mortgage offer says that they need 7 days (or 5 working days) notice to release the funds. I have heard that it can be done sooner but that the banks don't like to advertise this!

Thank you.

My offer says 7 days too, but you're being wise in allowing longer.

They usually say five working days, but can do it in 48 hours if you have a mad solicitor like mine.
