Little Gym, Building and Moving!

Hi all,
Me and my hubby are building our own house. We are trying to find a nice place to bring up a family, with the added bonus of good schools and nice plots to build on. My husband is not a huge fan of the 'olden style' look (as he calls it) so basically we are looking for a kind of modern looking town with plenty of things to do for the kids (We are TTC). If possible- (This is quite random) I would love to have a little gym around the area, up to a half hour away. Love the sound of them. If anyone had any info on little gym then that would be awesome!

We'll be grateful for any information at all,
Thanks!
May xx

Hi May ! Poundbury is lovely - they are building some areas still so you could either have something built or buy a plot and build your own ! There's good schools nearby and fantastic shops and beautiful Dorset coastline not too far away ! If you google poundbury you can see pictures of the area etc ! Hope that helps a bit !

Forgot to add - the 1610 gym is walking distance and is great !

Hi OnePlanOnHouzz!

I googled it, (Ah, the benefits of technology!) and I have to say it does look really nice. If you don't mind, could you give me more information on the actual town (ex. shops, things for kids to do, etc) to give us a bit more information. So far my husband loves the look of it, so that is a success in itself!
Thanks for all your help!

Sorry for delay - I don't come on here much !! Well - it's in Dorchester which is a market town -the sort of town you can wander around in your Wellies and people don't bat an eyelid - as the villages around are rural and lots of people have horses etc etc ! It's about 40 mins to the coast so picnics on the beach are easily possible ! Great schools - rural ones and town ones - the secondarily school, is walking distance of poundbury and there's a middle school and first school walking distance too... There's a mix of homes to suit most budgets - my daughter has a two bed apartment there - there's a family friendly pub that does great sundy carverys - village ships and a mini waitrose !even a garden centre Sainsburys is a short walk ! Boutique shops for nice ( expensive ) dresses etc ... All in all it's a new , clean , well laid out and fresh area to move to ! I can't think of any down sides !! There's singe people, new family's , old family's and older people living there ! Prince Charles visits occasionally ! ( on those days you are sometimes asked not to have washing out as it could get blown away by the helicopter ( or it looks messy ??!! )
The town itself has most of the normal high street names , Crew, white stuff, fat face , M&S , Blacks/millers, thorntons, etc. there's a big tesco, waitrose, somerfield, there's loads of eateries too and costa coffee shop etc! For kids - wow there's loads of trails and walkways/ cycle paths etc and playgrounds in poundbury village , there's the Jurrasic coast , ferry trips to brown sea island, puddletown forest, Weymouth for sailing , farm petting places, outdoor adventure climbing in purbeck and surrounding areas - there's loads and loads to keep active kids busy - and for the less active there's cinemas and theatres ! Why not book a weekend break and have a scout around ?

Hi, OnePlanOnHouzz!

I have convinced my husband (although he didn't need much of it!) to go on a weekend break there. I was personally glad there was a tescos lol ;)

Thanks for all your help,
May xx

Hello all!
OnePlanOnHouzz, We went down to poundbury, really liked it. We have just recently found out we are expecting our first baby (a girl), so we're on a time schedual! I am just revving the post back up to see about our other options. I do like Cheltnam general hospital and the look of The Broadwalk, Imperial Square, which have 3 bedroom apartments, (that we could live in untill the build was finished) so if there were any places around Cheltnam that we could build on would be great! But if we find no-where else we like better, Poundbury it is!!! Also, does anyone have any info on Cheltnam? We just want to look at all our options.

Thanks!
May xx
