where to look for a time-share studio/ part of a flat in London over summer - any sites or forums for that?

I'm wondering if a site exist where owners or tenants can advertise time-share on a flat in London, i.e. they use it at weekend or half-week, and would rent to someone for the other half-week?

I know there are flat share sites, and they are great, but it's a task to find someone you really get on with, and fast! if you wanted a place to yourself, either a studio or even better a room in a flat that isn't used by an owner (which once I was lucky to find for 3 months), it seems like there are no sites for that.

Or otherwise if say an owner went travelling and rented out a guest bedroom and use of the rest of a flat over summer? So like a travel swap thing but without the actual swap iykwim.

Renting a place all by yourself is extortinate in London, yet I'm sure some people could be interested in letting part of their place this way, if a lodger had good refs.

there are Monday to Friday lets on spareroom and similar sites. You could also try the house-sit sites such as mindmyhouse.

but what you are thinking of is very difficult insurance-wise.

thanks, special. I know about spareroom, but it's all flatshares, or agents advertising studios for longer term - or landlords rarely, but then it's all full time with all the council tax etc. Very rarely this scenario does come up but I haven't been lucky so far. I'd prefer a time share rather than all out renting too - i.e. if the owner there only at weekends, haven't seen any of these.
I think insurance is fine if the owner is away for under 3months - I wouldn't expect anyone to commit to this much, even 1-2 months in the early summer would be great for me, even better.

Thank you for suggesting the house sitting sites - I've not thought of that! will have a look. I thought there were official agencies for that, as it is a little risky to trust someone. But as I say, I have refs from a London owner who does leave me to house-sit occasionally.

airbnb.

I did house-sitting from an unofficial site (can't remember the name) - only ever got one assignment though, competition is very fierce.

for a stay as long as this I think you would be expected to pay the council tax and bills.

airbnb is good for short-term lets, and you certainly wouldn't be expected to pay bills on top.

There's a group on Facebook called Theatre Digs List which often has London flat lets on

elportodelgato · 11/05/2014 17:44

There is something called mid week lets or something like that where you rent a room from Mon to Thurs only, usually in the owners home. Are you looking for this summer, and what dates?

beaglesaresweet · 12/05/2014 00:22

yes, elporto this summer, and wouldn't need the whole Mon-Fri either, but if the price was good I could rent full time (but not be there daily).

special, if it was a time share with the owner, which would be ideal, I defimnitely wouldn't pay tax or bills as usually bills are included and tax is for long term and full time tenants (6 months or in any case more than 3mnth) - as I say I would want a time share ideally, not full time.

Moon and ihate, I thought that 'air' was was VERY shot lets, like literally a b&b, stay for tourists?

short, not shot

Well, I just rented an AirBnb flat for a month, and I'm sure longer would be possible. Some have discounts for 28 days and longer.

beaglesaresweet · 12/05/2014 18:26

thanks, Moon, will look at that. Last time I looked I found the site confusing and hard to search, but that was when it's just established, possibly it's better now. Do you pay bills on top? And I hope these are private lets, not agents.
