We're about to put our house on the market. Houses are selling where we are in London pretty quickly. A few estate agents have said they'd like us to suggest what fees we'd want to pay. I've no idea where to start! What's usual? - I was thinking something like 1% for the figure we have in mind, 0.8% for slightly less. Has anyone else done this?

Or actually having thought about it is it better to say something like 0.7% basic, then for every £1000 over that they get 2% of it. Aargh I'm no good at this! help!

tell them 0.5% and see what they say. Estate agency in London is not a big effort at the moment.

A sliding scale would be good.
