Has anyone ever applied for a grant to repair a listed house?

And if so what was it for? And how easy/hard was it?

We seen a house which we like, but the stone windowsills (mentioned in the listing) are very crumbly and there is an mahoosive crack in the stairwell. Just wondering whether we would be able to get help with these if we took it on...

TIA!

I'm not aware of anything that's available. You used to be able to get VAT exemption on some things but even that stopped.

My approach would be to try and get an estimate for the work and adjust your offer price accordingly.

Bumping and watching with interest. We have recently bought a listed house that needs quite a but doing to it.

I'd be surprised if there were grants available but would love to know about it if there are!

I've never found any grants for G2 listed properties. If the house was on the danger list (cant remember what its really called, but its when its about to fall down), then you may get help.

Grants are very difficult to come by. Local authorities used to offer them but they have mostly now disappeared as part of cuts.

You'll need to take advice from a conservation expert- a reputable firm of conservation builders may b e able to advise on costs etc. you are required to explore repair to start with over replacement and the work will need to be sympathetic.

Good luck!
