Help with painting rsj support

Hi

We are nearing the end of our extension and finally getting to plan how to finish it! We have a pillar supporting rsj which unfortunately does protude into kitchen slightly, there is a kitchen unit on bottom half and work top will continue past it, however it still shows on the top half, over the ceiling and down the other side of the room.

My question is do people paint it the same colour as the wall, and then the ceiling on top, or paint it to same colour as wall even on the ceiling so it shows more?

We are having Egyptian cotton on all other walls but a slightly darker stone colour (perfectly taupe) on this kitchen wall, so if I were to blend it, it would be perfectly taupe on the kitchen wall, then white on the ceiling and down the other side across the room it would be Egyptian cotton, or do we paint it perfectly taupe right the way across?

Not sure whether to whether to paint it as much as possible to blend in, but then it will always be showing so is that pointless and might as well make a feature of it?

I've attached some pics, please help me!!

We are having a pillar too but the builder is going to box it in - is this an option for you?

Do you mean so it's hidden in the ceiling? If so we have to have 2 rsj's as knocking down 2 supporting walls! One is being hidden but this one can't as well unfortunately Sad so we are stuck with it so wondering how to make it look the best it can!!!

No I think out builder is boxing in the pillar as well as the RSJs. Sorry don't know what else to suggest.

I have RSJ supports in my lounge. Paint all the walls the same colour. Mine are pointing by F and B with a Winborne White ceiling. Same colour blends them in. I would not want it as a feature wall.

Thank you, never thought I would be thinking about such things! Now have bigger fish to fry as have just discovered our kitchen plans are wrong and the fridge we have bought will not fit!!
