It'll require using a hacksaw, to trim the metal inner tube and the wooden rod that weights the bottom, and a ruler, pencil, household scissors and steady hand to trim the fabric. To put the thing up, if you're fitting it to an already-mounted batten, you just need some self-tapping screws (probably in the kit) and a screwdriver. If you need to put up the batten, or if you're fixing it straight into the wall, you'll also need a drill and some suitable wall plugs.

Do you have upvc double glazing? You can fit these sort of blinds directly to the window if so. We got a handyman to fit ours which we had to get made-to-measure from an online supplier as our windows are too wide for the standard sizes in shops. They really weren't as expensive as I thought. Maybe check them out to save having to cut an off-the-shelf one? Ours were from SoEasy blinds but there are loads of other online suppliers too.

(Sorry for DM link!! Was the best one I could find quickly)

Fitting it the window recess gives a better blackout effect. Before trimming the blind to fit, do make sure to measure the width and drop of your window at a few different points. Windows are rarely 'true' and just measuring in one spot could mean you could end up with the blind being too wide / narrow at another part of the window IYSWIM?
