Moving out of London - help!

Hi, my boyfriend and I have decided to look to move out of london. He is planning on selling his flat in clapham. I work in Richmond and he works in Paddington and we are looking for suitable areas to commute from. We thought Reading or surrounding areas might be suitable. We also have good friends in Bristol area so it would be good to be out West of London

Can anyone recommend where are the better areas of Reading and surrounding villages? Our budget will be around £600-750,000, looking for places with good primary and secondary schools but also convenient commutes into london. Finally, we are both still only 30 so ideally some where with a bit of life to keep us interested!

Any suggestions or similar experiences would be appreciated.

What about Windsor? There's one train line into Waterloo via Richmond and another into Paddington.

I don't know round Reading that well, but Wokingham is quite nice.

Windsor is lovely, but you don't seem to get as much for your money, particularly in terms of garden space

Hi
I am the local editor of Mumsnet Berkshire. Why not come over to the local site and post on our message boards. I live in Wokingham and have lived in Caversham and know these areas fairly well. Also, other mums can advise.

I am happy to help where I can.
