Hi,
Just that really, we are thinking of buying in the area and I thought I'd see if anyone here has some local knowledge.

Thanks.

I had family who lived in Lossiemouth for many years and friends in Elgin. What would, you like to know and I will see if I can help!

Poor, thanks for replying. I'd like to know if its a safe place to live. Does it have a sense of community and are there any crime worries? I've been told it has it's own 'micro climate' so would also like more info on that if it's true.

Like all towns, Elgin does have pockets of trouble but nothing serious. The beaches are amazing and yes, the weather can be wonderful. I have been on Lossiemouth beach at Easter when it has been beautifully warm for the following year to be utterly bitter!

I have loved camping in Lossie.

Obviously, there is a big military presence in town and you will have a lot of flying noise. The shops are ok. Generally you will get everything you need but for more extensive shopping you are looking at Aberdeen or Inverness. What attracts you to Elgin?

Thanks for the info. We've been searching for plots of land to build on and found one near to Elgin so that's it really. Haven't lived in Scotland for twenty years and as the kids will leave for uni in three years we are just trying to make a plan.
